So generally speaking, you can only make money online from

(a) being an affiliate for a product/service

(b) being an product owner/service provider

(c) running adsense (or something similar)

(d) doing services for other people for chump change while they rake in the thousands.

Disregarding (d), all the other options, require, if you want to have a stable and long term business that is, a website.

And if you can create a website that is profitable using any of the first three options then you can sell it for 20 times it’s monthly revenue at flippa.com. This is ofcourse provided you can find a buyer there.

Furthermore, at flippa.com you can find sites that have already been created (ie. the seo and groundwork has been done), purchase them if you sense an opportunity, and make them more profitable.

You can then hold onto them as a long term source of income or sell the site again for a higher profit margin.

Basically, it’s virtual real estate, where you buy low, do a bit of improving, and sell high for a nice lump payment.

How do you improve a site? Basically my implementing internet marketing techniques which are taught at places like Wealthy Affiliate and other communities.

Whilst being an affiliate is great, as it usually means no customer service, there’ll come a time when you may wish to be on top of the food chain and have your own product, which when done right will lead to much faster success (although it’s more costly to set up initially)

This is excellent as you can have thousands of your own affiliates doing all the hard work for you provided you entice them with an offer that can convert. Coz think about there is a whole army of super affiliate potentially wanting to promote your offer….now that’s what I call the power of leverage!

Generally speaking, being a product owner is the next step up, and while you can create the product yourself (a digital product for instance) you can always outsource it at places like elance.com.

Once you’ve tweaked the salescopy until it’s converting, then you can recruit your affiliate army on places like clickbank and affiliate related forums.

In this way you become an affiliate for your affiliate program so to speak, by creating more campaigns as you would for your normal affiliate products…except in this case you want people to sign up to your affiliate program and start promoting…which in the long term, if you provide them with the adequate training and resources will pay handsome dividends.

Furthermore, you can also approach huge websites in your niche and offer to JV with them. As long as your product converts then you will have them biting your hands off.

It should be noted though, that all successful product owners used to be successful affiliates. This is key because they know intimately what their affiliates want and need to set up a profitable income stream.

A lot people ask me for a simply strategy for running a business online…so I thought I’d post the bones of the process here (I can always elaborate later on in other posts)

(1) Set up a squeeze page offering a free report for any given market (you’ll need web hosting, a domain name and an autoresponder for this) in exchange for a name and email address

(2) Drive relevant traffic to that squeeze page….test and tweak until you are converting at around 30%+. Use articles, pay per click advertising, banner ads, seo, facebook, twitter, video, forums etc to get this relevant traffic

(3) In your autoresponder, simply offer more insane value whilst recommending peerless products (www.clickbank.com have a huge selection). Understand your market is key here, so that you understand their pyschology.

(4) Reap the rewards and accordingly rinse and repeat in other niches.

This really is the best method for obtaining success online. Coz think about, all those huge promotions online all stem from massive email marketing campaigns…which in itself is a dead giveaway.

In today’s climate, building an email list is a must as it allows you to build a relationship with your visitors, by providing them with helpful info, and build up trust. Coz think about it, hardly no one buys after only one visit to a site…usually takes several visits (depending on what stage they are on in the consumer cycle)

Once trust is established, it makes selling your products and services so much easier…as you are viewed as a friend as well as an expert…which is a very healthy position to be in. All you have to do is make sure what you recommend to your list is of stupendous value as one crap product will ruin all your good work.

If you can keep a balance between promotions and offering good quality tips and content…then you can easily turn people, who would’ve been one time buyers if you weren’t building a list, into a life time customer which obviously increases your return on investment signifcantly.

For building a list I generally use Aweber due to their high delivery rates and ease of use. Heck, when you avail of their service you get a letter in the post from them, thanking you for your patronage….now that’s class

Ok, well as you know Wealthy Affiliate is an internet marketing university founded by Kyle and Carson, and I (my name is Cian btw) have been a member there since January 2009. And in that time I’ve been able to create success for myself on many levels (not just merely financial)…so I’m obviously going to give it a thumbs up.

However…I will say this…

Like anything in life, you can only achieve your goals through effort, and it’s the same at Wealthy Affiliate.

Sure it’s a superb resource (which a LOT say is the best) but if you don’t expel an iota of honest graft then naturally your success will be very low.

I repeat, WA is not a ”get rich quick” program…and if it was then it wouldn’t be worth your time (hint hint: there’s a reason why ”get rich quick” products are often labelled as scams)

So if you’re willing to take what WA offers you seriously, then you will definitely see it as a great investment.

Now I know the $97 fee can seem…what is the word..hefty, which is why I always recommend that those interested in Wealthy Affiliate first try out their tutorials for free, which I’ve been able to make available to you here.

The aim of these tutorials is to show you what Wealthy Affiliate offers you, and to give you a taste (think of a starter at a Michelin Star Restaurant) of their strategies and techniques. For me it really is the ultimate research package to decide once and for all whether Wealthy Affiliate is for you.

Before I get into my review of Wealthy Affiliate and reveal where you can test their tutorials without spending a dime, I feel it necessary, first and foremost, to explain just exactly how the internet can be used as a great medium to start running a very well-to-do business in whatever market you wish, and also to quash a few myths that have caused a lot of people to lose their shirts

Many people, whether through mis-information or sheer blind hope, believe that online there exists ”magical secret systems” that instantly allow wealth to be created. In fact, the greatest secret is that there is no secret, and once people accept that, they can indeed take giant leaps progressing. If they don’t….then expect years of falling victim to the latest and greatest hyped up solution.

Because creating success online is based exactly on the same principles that govern offline (Real World) success…which really is just basic economics.

In essence, you are just aligning customers in any given market/sub niche with a quality product/service (which can be your own or someone else’s), and the main function of the internet is to help you find these customers, get your message across to them (on a webpage), and then monetize them accordingly.

So the bones of the process is…

(a) Use the internet to get people in your target market to visit your webpage

(b) On your webpage offer insane value and content ie. what the visitor wants

(c) Then monetize them (whether straight away or through email marketing) via relevant products and services (which can be your own or someone else’s, in which case you get a healthy commission)

And that’s it in a nutshell really…converting (targeted traffic) with relevant offers/services. That is the big secret, if a secret it be.

Now the Wealthy Affiliate University of Kyle and Carson deals more than aptly with providing you with all the training and tools to take advantage of this aforementioned process.

For instance, firstly you will be shown how to get targeted traffic. Now there’s a loads of ways to do, but some of the most rewarding/worthwhile that they focus include pay per click, article marketing, forum marketing, video marketing, search engine optimisation, ppv, joint ventures, adswaps, iPhones and social media.

Using any of these avenues wil allow you to get tonnes of hot visitors in whatever market you immerse yourself in…not irrelevant visitors that click the ”back” button within a nano-second.

Secondly comes the ”scary” concept of building a website, which WA has addressed with their WordPress Express tool. This allows you to create a highly powerful website with only a few clicks, where all that technical, geeky crap has been eliminated. Many find building a website the most daunting and most difficult barrier to overcome when starting off online and WordPress Express makes it very simple indeed. More simpler indeeds, than WA’s previous website creator, Site Rubix.

Thirdly, WA will show in great detail how to find which products are the best to promote (ie. how to make money from this sizzling hot traffic), and what techniques to implement to get the best conversions. Furthermore when the time comes you can get immense help on creating your own product (if you wish to go that route)

On top of that there will always be the 1-1 support of Kyle and Carson, and the wonderful forum which will enable you to get inspired and to make progress as quickly as possible.

Whilst this is a simple overview of WA, it shouldn’t be forgotten that to make these steps as easy as possible to progress they provide other valuable assets, such as free web hosting and really top notch keyword tools. Not to mention the 500+ tutorials there have on every single facet of internet marketing, where new ones are being added every week.

One thing that really impressed me is their NicheQ centre, which basically picks a market for you, and gives you all the ingredients (keywords, plr articles, plr reports, webpages, recommended products) to succeed. It really does eliminates a lot of the hard work, and provides a template for how to approach other industries.

Thoughts

Making a big splash in the online world, despite what some may have you believed, just comes down to following the aspects I’ve outlined together with some honest elbow grease and perserverance

And when that effort is applied, and refined through trial and error, then you will be rewarded. To what degree is entirely up to you
